THE MISTAKES TO AVOID WHEN USING A DIGITAL SCALE

Do you use digital scales in your business and want to do everything to maintain your weighing equipment efficiency? Follow our tips and avoid some common mistakes using your scale!

At first, weighing a product on a digital scale is a pretty simple task. But, with a busy daily routine, doing the maintenance and preserve the precision of your scale can turn a little bit more complicated. To everything you must do to manage your business you also have to add the care of all types of equipment and, this way, you’re bound to make some mistakes in one area or another.

But fear not! Because Balanças Marques is here to help you with many tips about your weighing instruments. On this list, here on the blog, we listed some mistakes you should avoid when using a digital scale to maintain their reliability and efficiency:

1.    Changing the place of your scale without checking the conditions of the location.
If your business has already changed facilities or has undergone renovations, it’s also likely that your scale has switched places. But you shouldn’t do it without first checking the conditions of the new place. A digital scale is sensitive to factors such as temperature changes, moisture, and vibrations. For this reason, when you must move a weighing equipment, remember that your scale should always be in a place with constant temperature and lodged on a stable surface.

2.    Forget to level your scale.
Your weighing equipment needs to have stability and to be well leveled to weight with precision. But the daily use of the scale can cause the level to wobble. For this reason, this is one of those tasks you should do regularly. From time to time, check your scale’ bubble level and make sure that it is in the right place. And, if necessary, adjust the equipment’s feet to ensure the weighing results are reliable.

3.    Let fall objects in your scale or use it carelessly.
Scales are robust objects, but also have some more sensitive components that have a central role in weighing and require a little caution. So, to preserve the integrity of the load cell and of other scale elements, you should use your weighing instruments with care. Avoid overloading the scale, don’t let objects fall on the equipment and comply with the rules indicated by the manufacturers in the instruction manual.

4.    Not doing calibrations (or the periodic verifications).
Whether you have a retail business or an industry, your digital scale is subject to a natural wear caused by the daily use, which conditions their precision and reliability. To ensure that your scale is working as correctly as possible, you should bet on regular calibrations. This way, you’ll have weighing specialists (like the ones from our metrology lab CALL MARQUES) evaluating the performance of your scale and adjust whatever is needed. And, if you use non automatic weighing instruments with transactional purposes, do not forget to proceed the mandatory periodic verifications to comply with the law and certify the reliability of the equipment.

Now that you know the main mistakes to avoid when using a digital scale, you can get down to business and follow our tips with your scale. And, in the meanwhile, you can explore our blog to learn even more about weighing and explore our website to find the next scale for your business.
